Some photos from our journey, enjoy!

Donde es Brenden???????

We'll a small issue, missing a wallet.
In route to the airport Brenden's wallet was left in the transport van. Within minutes of boarding he was still waiting for the van transport to rearrive at the airport with his belongings. Unfortunately it was to late for our flight though.
All worked out in the end. Wallet and Brenden made it home safe.

Last Full Day

Please keep us in your prayers as we end our week here. We were able today to attend 'Good Sheperd Babtista Church', yes a sister church here in Mazatlan. This is the church that brought about the orphanage. While traveling throughout Mexico to find a good location for the orphanage, Ed's car broke down in Mazatlan. He made some calls to some local churches to see if someone could help his situation. When he rang the church of Efram (pastor), the secretary said the doctor was out. Well long story short the pastor is also a doctor, and he had been praying for years for an orphanage to become established for handicap children. Our first trips to Mazatlan included VBS with this church, which is well established and thriving. This morning we arrived just before a phone call from home in which we learned of my moms passing in the night. She went in her sleep without much pain. Efram was a blessing this morning. We appreciate our dear friend. Thank you again for your prayers, this has been an amazing trip, and we look forward to sharing it with you in person. Pray as we travel tomorrow, and as we return to our families. Cathy and Brenden Burge

Survival mode

We survived the storm. We arrived back from our stint in town to update our blog yesterday and we remained without power until 2 am. Its hard to get around in the dark, but we survived. The fireflies were out in the hundreds due to all the rain. We all sat under our covered area and watched as if at a drive in theatre.
This morning we were able to have 1 VBS, which was awesome. 74 kids, 3 pinatas and lots of fun! Ask Kent about his pink shirt!
We have moved into the city for debriefing, watch for some photos....

monsune activities

While the rain was pouring down we were fixing a few things in the house and the kids kept getting in the way being all stuffed inside, so we decided to do some crafts. In the process we had to go back and forth to our dorms, this is less than a block, and we got DRENCHED!!! the kids made bags with stickers and markers and had fun with them, but we were glad when the rain finally let up. Hopefully tomorrow they can use these bags to pick up candy from the piñatas at our VBS. As of now we are without power so pray the repairs will be done quickly. We drove through town and several power lines were down. Most of our projects are finished and everything is going along pretty smoothly.

Day 1

We´ve arrived and hit the ground running. Our in country leader Ed, was hospitalized the day he arrived. He returned to the orphanage today, revitalized from possible food poisoning.
All is well, very calor (hot). It will take a bit to get adjusted to. Work is getting under way in all different areas of the orphanage.
